Those with natal Saturn shaping hard aspects or no aspects at all end up struggling in life. Either they get jailed, develop some mental illness or depression, become religious or isolate themselves from the society somehow. Neo from Matrix definitely has Saturn on the 12th squaring Mars. Remember that Mars represents attacker, warrior and sex.

Freedom as we know it is given by Saturn. How does Saturn give freedom? Through having responsibilities and answer to your actions. How do you answer to your actions? By knowing our limitations.

Astrologically speaking Saturn sets up democracy on free countries so based on locational astrology, those countries with Saturn developing strong and long-lasting aspects develop freedom but the transit passes, it is lost. That’s why we can’t really define what democracy is. Someday we have freedom but tomorrow there is a law against. Then a law changes another law and we keep moving.

Saturn sets up the limits and represents the space, time and death (e.g the scythe of Saturn). Saturn tells us everything comes to an end: we have time to be a child, to be a teenager, to be an adult, to have responsibilities, to live. Nothing is infinite.

Now Saturn is based in Aquarius which is struggling to keep on its feet to Uranus, which is trying to fit new changes and realities (e.g. Covid’s life, post-Covid way of living…). Saturn somehow stops Uranus to fit everything in one go. Saturn puts some order: OK so we’ve been on Climate Change, Agenda 2030, homosexual’s couples can raise children, now Covid, what’s next? Uff… Saturn is currently sweating. But still, Saturn wants to keep this changes and protect them.

The problem with Saturn though is that equate the concept of reality with the concept of truth. The truth is the reality. As Saturn is the guardian which protects the tradition and culture. Business usually turn into this way in the long term: “Why are you doing it like this? Because we’ve always done it this way. There are still big companies out there that are being administered the same way than 60-70 years ago. Saturn is afraid to what it’s new. That’s why system which are open are more stable than those are close: complexity is more stable than simplicity.

That’s why we need to push Saturn to be more creative. Therefore when Saturn is transiting through the 6th, 7th 10th or 11th, you need to recreate yourself: study something, learn new skills, learn a new language, change your established opinions. Eventually you must change because what’s new always gets into our lives. Don’t want to suffer a crisis (when Saturn transits the 12th, we always suffer a crisis). As older we’re getting, more Saturnanian we become because we’re less open for a change.

Being too open for a change is not good neither. Psychologists for instance focus their therapy to go back to our Saturn’s life: bring you back to your roots to get a regular life. Those who got some hard aspects with Neptune setting up their presence; or Jupiter when someone is not focused on their goal in life (e.g expanding their experiences through sex, drugs and so on, consuming and expending money with non-stop… eventually losing themselves). Compulsive Gambling is a Jupiterian’s disease.

As a conclusion, Saturn protects our habitat. As a transpersonal planet, it is always complicated to deal with. That’s why the location of Saturn in your chart is where you’re going to build the skeleton where your life is going to sit on. That’s why you need to get familiar with the sign and the house where your natal Saturn is based. Sooner or later you’re going to be forced to get the right knowledge from it.
